A study in healthy participants investigating an experimental new medicine for treating polycythaemia vera (PV) – a rare blood cancer.

Join our clinical trial

We’re doing this trial to test a new concentration of an experimental new medicine, called divesiran, which is being developed to treat polyeythaemia vera (PV) – a rare type of blood cancer.  We hope the new concentration will make treatment easier and more convenient for patients with PV.  This trial aims to find out the side effects and blood levels of the new concentration of divesiran in healthy volunteers.

Why participate?

If you take part in this trial you’ll be helping medical research – you’ll help us develop a potential new treatment for PV – a rare blood cancer.

In the UK, about 1,140 people are diagnosed with PV each year.  PV affects the bone marrow (where blood cells are made) causing the body to produce too many red blood cells, which can make the blood thicker than normal and affect how well it flows through the body. This can cause a wide range of symptoms, but people with PV often have fatigue, itchy skin, brain fog, and low iron levels. It can also lead to serious health problems, which may be life threatening.
