A study investigating an experimental new medicine for problems with thinking such as memory and concentration, linked to neurological conditions like Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and schizophrenia.

Join our clinical trial

We’re doing this trial to test an experimental new medicine for treating cognitive decline or impairment in neurological disorders. The study medicine acts at sites in the brain called ‘TrkB receptors’. By acting on those sites, we hope it will help regulate the chemical imbalances in the brain linked to neurological disorders, and so improve patients’ symptoms. We’re conducting this study in healthy volunteers to see if a single dose causes any side effects when taken by mouth, how much of the medicine (and its breakdown products) enters the blood and urine, how long it takes the body to remove it, and whether eating food changes how well the medicine is absorbed into the bloodstream.

Why participate?

If you take part in this trial, you’ll be helping medical research – you could help us develop a potential new treatment for cognitive decline or impairment.

In the UK, about 1 in 6 people have a neurological disorder. Types of neurological disorders include AD, which affects 60 million people worldwide, and schizophrenia, which affects 24 million people worldwide. Neurological disorders affect the brain and include a wide range of symptoms, but people with neurological disorders often have cognitive decline or impairment. People with cognitive decline can experience problems with short term memory, planning, language, and/or attention.
